fill the tank
Drink a substantial amount of water and ensure you have eaten a nutritious meal at least 4 hours prior to your appointment. This can reduce the possibility of lightheadedness and fainting.
NOTIFY YOUR PIERCER OF HEALTH CONDITIONS
Please notify your piercer prior to, or at the beginning of your appointment if you have a tendency to faint, feel sick around needles or blood, or have any health conditions that may impact the piercing (blood thinning medication, heart conditions etc).
MEDICATIONS
Please avoid medication such as aspirin, ibuprofen, blood thinners, or stimulants (I.e Adderall) within 24 hours of your appointment.
ALCOHOL & CAFFEINE
Please avoid any alcohol or caffeine consumption ideally 24 hours prior to your appointment as it can increase bleeding, amongst other reasons.
NUMBING CREAM
If you have applied numbing cream before your appointment, we will not be able to pierce you. Numbing cream can have the ability to alter your anatomy and can affect the end result of the piercing.
PREGNANT OR BREAST FEEDING
We do NOT pierce anyone that is pregnant or breastfeeding.
AGE REQUIREMENTS
We only pierce people 16yrs+. Minors must have parental or legal guardian consent and are required to bring their parent / guardian to the appointment or provide a written letter of consent, a copy of client & parent / guardian photo ID and medicare card.
ID REQUIREMENTS
All clients (even 18yrs+) are required to bring photo ID to their appointment. Valid forms of photo ID include:
-
Drivers License
-
Proof of Age card
-

ARRIVE ON TIME
Please arrive at your appointment at the scheduled time. As we operate on a back-to-back schedule, we do not have the flexibility to allow late arrivals. If you are more than 5 minutes late, your appointment may be cancelled and the remaining balance due on the appointment is required.
VISITORS

AFTER CARE
Congratulations on your new piercing! Along with the excitement, a bit of aftercare is key. To help your piercing heal smoothly and stay looking its best, please follow these instructions. And if any questions come up, feel free to reach out to us anytime!
DO NOT TOUCH
Twisting, touching, pulling and playing with your new piercing will slow down and disturb the healing process. Our hands carry a lot of bacteria at all times, therefore touching can increase the risk of infection.
CLEANING YOUR PIERCING
Please apply the NeilMed aftercare spray to the entry and exit sites of the new piercing. The aftercare spray is to be used twice a day, for two weeks, then once a day for two weeks.
Never leave the piercing site wet or damp as this can attract bacteria. You must only use single-use or disposable items (paper towel or cotton pad).
AVOID SWIMMING
Chlorinated swimming pools and the ocean must be avoided for a minimum of 4 weeks.
IRRITATION BUMPS
Avoid unnecessary trauma to your piercing such as friction from clothing, towels, loofahs, excessive motion of the area, playing with the jewellery, knocking the piercing, and over cleaning. This trauma may cause the formation of unsightly and uncomfortable piercing bumps, increased swelling, prolonged healing and other problems.
DOWNSIZING JEWELLERY
Leaving large jewellery in after your piercing has finished healing will make it prone to catching or snagging on your hair and clothing, and pushing down on the skin when sleeping. This trauma may cause piercing bumps that can lead to migration of your piercing, causing it to move and look crooked. Please return to us at 6-8 weeks to downsize your piercing.
HEALING TIMES
Different Piercings have different healing times, and different people may take longer to heal, however here is our recommend healing time guide:
-
Ear Lobes, Nose & Lip: 2 - 4 Months
-
Ear Cartilage: 4 - 6 Months
-
Navel & Nipple: 6 - 12 Months
FAQS
22 TATTOO is strictly 18+ and will not tattoo any minors, regardless of parental consent. Valid photo ID in the form of a passport, drivers licence or proof of age card must be brought with you to the appointment.
We do not tattoo the head, ears and face or below the ankle bone.
Of course! We offer discounts for bundle bookings (multiple tattoos for one person in one session). Please notify us prior to your appointment with all of the desired designs, sizes and placements for your appointment as they must be approved and quoted. We may not have time for new additional tattoos on the day of your appointment if we are not notified before.
Pain varies between each person! We promise to take great care of you, be as gentle as we can and make you as comfortable as possible.
Tiny Tattoos or Fineline Tattoos are typically smaller, quicker and less painful than traditional body tattoos. Numbing cream may have the ability to affect the texture of the skin, ink implantation and retention. Due to these reasons, we request you do NOT use numbing cream for your tattoo appointment.
Unfortunately we do not accept clients that are on Roaccutaine or acne medication. We recommend to wait at least 6 months after you have finished the medication, or the duration of your course of medication (i.e medicated for 1 year then wait 1 year).
Unfortunately we will not tattoo anyone who keloid scars. A keloid scar is caused by an excess of protein (collagen) in the skin during healing. They are a thick, raised scar that are often lumpy or rigid. If you are unsure if you keloid scar, please contact your doctor for confirmation.
It generally takes up to 2 weeks for the tattoo to ‘heal’ externally on the skin, however can take 8+ weeks for a tattoo to be deemed completely healed.
Yes we can, however it will depend on how the scar has healed. Please be advised that the scarred area must be completely healed with no redness or abrasions around the site. Please contact 22 TATTOO with photos of the proposed scarred area so we can advise if we are a suitable artist for your tattoo.
As a professional studio, we have a higher standard of care than the minimum legal requirement. Therefore, we will only pierce people who are 16yrs+ and have parental / legal guardian consent.
Pain varies between each person! We promise to take great care of you, be as gentle as we can and make you as comfortable as possible.
Different Piercings have different healing times, and different people may take longer to heal. Please see our healing time guide in the piercing aftercare section.
Each person’s anatomy is different and therefore not everyone will be a suitable candidate for the requested areas. If we are unable to pierce the desired area, your piercer will be able to guide you to alternative options on the day or can credit the non-refundable booking fee for you to use in the future.
You will initially be pierced with a longer bar to allow room for swelling. Leaving long jewellery in after your piercing has finished healing will make it prone to catching or snagging on your hair and clothing, and pushing down on the skin when sleeping. This trauma may cause piercing bumps that can lead to migration of your piercing, causing it to move and look crooked. Please return to us at 6-8 weeks to downsize your piercing.
We strongly advise against changing your own jewellery in a freshly pierced area. We always recommend booking in a downsize or change over appointment to ensure the piercing is ready to be changed and is healing correctly.
We will not pierce you if you keloid scar. Please note, it is common for people to confuse irritation bumps with keloid scarring and recommend you do your research between the two.
Please contact your piercer straight away.
We will never-ever pierce using a ring (unless it is a septum or daith) due to these reasons:
INFECTION: rings are circular objects, therefore can pull dust, dirt and bacteria through. Studs will hold the nasty stuff on top of the stud, and won’t transfer through the fresh channel.
MIGRATION: rings put a lot of strain and stress externally on the piercing, causing it to pull and move in the skin.
HEALING: we pierce straight, and want it to heal straight. If you use a ring, it will curve and not allow the area to heal correctly.
Yes, all piercing pricing includes our standard jewellery range.
For safety and hygiene reasons, we do NOT allow you to bring your own jewellery to your piercing appointment.
We exclusively use single-use needles for piercing as they provide more precise and less traumatic results compared to piercing guns.
